The unions were much stronger when the car companies started to introduce robots into car making factories. Not sure if their strength impacted the rollout speed, but the end result is the same.
BTW: Unions are not only about protecting a particular number of jobs. They are also about improving the education, welfare and safety of those people in jobs. The introduction of the Hadrian X (and future models) provide an opportunity to educate workers, improve the welfare and safety of people in the jobs.
An important point here is that the Hadrian X is not a autonomous machine with artificial intelligence. The Hadrian X does require humans to operate and manage the machinery.
Hadrian XX might be autonomous and require zero humans, but that will be many years away (well maybe at least 20 or 30 years anyway).
