I suppose my point is that this ship is not sinking but being skuttled by inaction from within and deliberate intent outside. Someone wants to scuttle the ship but for it to remain upright and floating long enough for the salvage team to arrive.
There is an island out there AND ships circling. They just don't respect the laws of the sea.
One famous mutiny ended in a possible win/win. Bligh went on to become Governor of NSW (could explain the political situation here ever since!), Christiansen founded a nice island retreat which if memory serves me right, remained tax-free until recently (lucky sods).
