That applies to both these people Gallea trying to save his ass from being sued.
AL trying to retain his position in the company.
To paraphrase that great line from the movie ' Gladiator ':
" If you want to survive in the arena, you have to win the crowd ". (May not be the exact words but it was Oliver Reed's comment to Russell Crowe).
I know some team leaders who could learn a lot from embracing that concept.
