Many companies have high levels of shorts over a long period of time and just go through the normal market cycles, with shorts covering and re-shorting just as longs buy, sell and re-buy.
Cyclicals such as retailers (MYR) and miners (WSA, IGO) are good examples.
We all like to think the playing field is even out there and that we are being kept as fully informed as possible, but little if anything in QIN's financials or commentaries would have indicated that a sudden possible insolvency issue would occur.
And who knows, this may still be the case?
I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the meetings currently occurring over the issues that need addressing.

To be a fly on the wall in these times..
If only!
If by some miracle it is going to be great news, I think the short squeeze that will ensue will ensure that shorters will leave QIN alone once and for all. We can dream this can happen.
