The odds of finding the worlds biggest oil discovery back in 2014 was very remote, now factor in nine hits in a row without finding the full extent of it.
The size of this field and now connectivity has signalled DOC to all the majors.
Succes of this magnitude demands attention from those in the industry and if it was forecast that future demand for oil would not support development the majors would not be interested.
Once the asset is proven, the doors to many future financial options open up.
This is a new oil province that will come on stream at a time when existing fields are depleting and oil is more costly to produce.
