First post:
A text post from a guy from Canada who I accepted a friend request from a while ago.
A) Not a real friend.

Relevance = 0/10
Second post:
Someone "Likes" a magazine brand.
A) Again not a real friend.
B) Skip as not relevant to my interests.
Relevance = 2/10 (Giving it a 2 in case somebody happens to like something I like at some point in time by accident)
Third post:
Photo from a friend (who I would consider more of a friend than the first poster above) of a baby with a one line comment.
A) I don't know whose baby it is.
B) I don't like babies. Skip.
Relevance = -1 (I really don't like babies and especially other people's babies; and even less babies of complete strangers..)
Fourth post:
Another post about trains from the first guy.

B) I don't follow either team.

Relevance = -1/10

Great. Not interested. 0/10.
FB is made up of Friends that very few are actually true friends. The majority are acquaintances if that. A lot of the content is irrelevant to me and I'm sure others.
People I ask about why they use FB seem to always have the exact same response. "I'm not a big fan of FB but the main reason I stay is I use it to stay in touch with my family and friends."
If this is in fact true and the general consensus then what of Thred I wonder?..
Thred can aggregate all of your contacts in one space and makes it easy to share HIGHLY RELEVANT content with ONLY real friends and family (and business associates) of which should promote much higher ENGAGEMENT levels from users.
Thred isn't a public broadcasting platform for mostly irrelevant content like FB. It's a place to connect with real people that matter to you to discuss and organise stuff that is important and RELEVANT to you and those you engage. If you want to post your funny memes or whatever to FB then Thred will enable that function better in due course.. but why bother?.. are you trying to just entertain the general public/push an image of yourself out there?.. or are you truly just using it to stay in contact with your friends and family?
If the response is true in what the numerous people I've asked why FB? and it is in fact the second option then Thred will kill FB every time. Build richer features and who knows where this will go.. Thred aren't competing against FB etc as they are completely different but it doesn't mean some current FB users won't migrate if they are being truthful about their reasons for being at FB in the first place..
Focus on business aspects because that puts food on the table in the form of revenue. Look at LinkedIn and MSFT.. What we can saddle up there is exciting.
Build enough features on the personal side and you just never know who might defect from other platforms.. it's a big world out there and there's plenty of room for a player like Thred that's for sure.
My view anyway.
Enjoy the day.
