He should be applauded for a generous donation targeted at the things he feels most strongly about which are clearly aimed at making our society a better place.
I dont want to tell others how to think but its grossly unfair to judge him cynically regardless of the tax benefit he receives from doing so. Play the system not the man in this case please.
