The Chinese are buying an extra $8m shares at a price that is about 75c higher than what the instos will pay in today's placement. G8 has effectively imposed a $6m penalty without going for any protracted legal battles with associated legal costs and uncertainties.
I wouldn't call G8 management incompetent for closing this matter with a $6m penalty and getting on with the business.
