RED328 has already answered very well before I could. The name 'Option' kind of gives it away. It's an option to acquire a share at a certain price, under certain circumstances. Please learn more about stocks, if you're investing significant amounts of money. I've found the hardest part with shares/stocks is entry price (paying too much for a share) and exit timing, and the ability to be patient..
