Well one way to stop the kids fighting is to distract with something else to focus on.
I just got back to Perth from attending Broadcast Asia which is Asia's premier Broadcasting technology trade fair convention held over in Singapore amongst the 5 star hotels precinct. I have attended a number of these events previously and this year happened to be in the region as our company negotiated a deal with an attendee there.
The noticebale thing is the maturation and consolidation of the OTT players and related broadcasting technology suppliers. Alot of startups were not there and talking to industry heavyweights the word was many had been taken over or had folded.
IOT and VR related technologies are now integrated into many service delivery players offerings. OTT is not new anymore but its variations and hybrids are in use commercially under varying business models.
TV2U were not there and I asked about them and also their looming commercial partners as per announcements made such as PGASCOM and the SOL deal. Not much to report there except industry players noted that there is strong competition now in these markets.
One tech group said they saw at CES2017 in Las Vegas a stall run by STARTUP HOLLAND TV which had a dutch startup Set Top Box based recommendation engine/personalisation offering. Basically it was a solution or idea of a solution that tracked your TV and internet surfing and used that data to build recommendations which then got stored in the Set Top Box for a personalised offering on your linear TV.
He said he met a representative who turned out to Wouter Schreur who fronted the brand TV2Z. I researched later and I found a video can be found on the CES2017 conference website under the Startup Holland TV area. I followed this up with another recommendation engine supplier whom I was referred to and he claimed it was indeed a TV2U collaboration with Divan or their tech partner OTT Labs.
I remember TV2U did previously announce some sort of collaboration to do with a recommendation engine of Divan partnering with TV2u. Is this that venture?
You can check it out yourself by searching on google TV2UZ. I found they are registered in the Netherlands but its double dutch to me as its all in dutch language but I guess this explains how it came under this Holland TV innovation banner.
Who this Wouter is and how this entity fits into the TV2U picture is something we should investigate and explore further.
