this week the class action against the Commonwealth government kicks off on behalf of Manus Island detainees, which is not only of vital importance to the 900 or so members, but is also seeking to establish an important point of law in relation to duty of care in negligence. Given the degree of vulnerability of the detainees and the nature of control held by the government in the circumstances, it will be interesting to see how the government try to argue that no duty is owed.. anyway, for those who continue to declare the company has no future, this is a huge case and is expected to last 7 months.. good luck to all clients, staff and holders
