Otherwise the announcement would have been another 5 pages, telling how many tens of millions of barrels of OOIP the sands could contain on a best possible case scenario, regardless of whether the formations looked commercial or not.

LOL... sad but true! I think you're spot on with them not being told much other than what they need to know. No signs of leakage or ramping, very unlike them.
