No newsletter?, page-10

This is my thoughts on the matter.  

• I don't think we will necessarily see newsletters with anywhere the same level of frequency as in the past and they will more likely reflect Dirk's style - which is quite different from Nick's - a change we have already started to see
• We are in the process of transitioning from one CEO to another.  If that means it takes a couple of months for Nick to let go and Dirk to put his stamp on things I'm happy to wait.  With two such different styles I wouldn't expect a completely seamless transition however much I'd like it
• I don't care if we wait until after June to implement podcasts or similar.  I also think we shouldn't want endless updates from Dirk. I think Dirk's communication style and preferences will mature as he starts to exercise the authority that goes with being the CEO rather than the deputy
• I don't believe the PR firm will be fully on board until after Dirk is confirmed in the role

I think the comments over the last few weeks show how much discipline is required to stick with the promise of reduced communications frequency.   Dirk does an update on person  and not much more than two weeks later people are clamouring for more.  

I'm pretty sure they only got back from Hong Kong about ten days ago.  I'm hoping that Bob is back in the lab with his cooking machine and Dirk is catching up on the business and getting his head around anything else necessary before 1 July is upon him. That would work fine for me

One other matter - Nick has really driven the communication timing and I suspect a lot of that has come from his view that the market needs to be fed.  We all know that had a downside because it also drives a mentality of feeding a void even if there isn't much to say. I believe this has  contributed  to content light announcements on occasions.   

So I'm ok if all of this takes a little time. In the meantime I'm paying more attention to the direction they gave us of "letting the numbers speak for themselves ".   I'm waiting.
