12 months from each different purchase date, (even if the share purchases are of the same stock), that is my understanding. However if you are a classed as a professional share trader - ie - it is (in loose terms) your "job," then you are taxed as if all profits are income (so income tax) at the different marginal income rates and there is no capital gains tax that applies (so no capital gains tax exemption either) .
