It has gone up in a number of areas by 100% In my area as well. Five years ago my power bill was about 120 and now it is over 200 and with this next rise of lets say 20% you can add another 50 on top.
Then there is the gas bill. Five years ago my 2 to 3 monthly gas bill was about 100 - 120 and now for the same amount it is 240.
Im the only person who lives here now so there is no surprise heavy usage of energy. That is with the gas hot water on vacation or just warm most of the time. To top it all off I dont live here all the time.

Next time you have a look at your power bill, take a close look at the maintenance line, the cost for maintaining the lines and poles. It started a few years ago at about 10c a day and now I think it is up over 50c a day.
I spoke to the power company and they said the government sets the maximum they can claim on that line, so I said back "Well the company does not have to claim the absolute maximum.

There you go, in Queensland some places have gone up much more and some not.
Stand bye for your house insurance to take a jump of around another ten to fifteen percent now after the last cyclone.
They put up my car insurance up just recently as well by 100 a year. I spoke to them and asked them why and they could not tell me. The only thing they said was there is a whole lot of reasons that could apply. BS I say as I had no accidents and drive mostly in the country, live in a place where there is no crime and my car lives in a garage. Im not in any risk bracket either.

Standby for your car insurance to rise by another ten to fifteen percent. The Qld government has said that car rego is now going up again by about 50 a year.

The Qld government is bankrupt and if it wasnt for the 5 billion they took out of the public servants superannuation fund this state would be in dire straights.

Lucky they dont put all these things in the cost of living data isnt it or Id be getting a lot more from my super fund.

This government has intentionally allowed foreign companies to buy our infrastructure and our ports and now has lost control of what was our most important assets. What idiot sells the power grid to a foreign company with links to the Chinese ruling party and what idiot sells our most strategically placed Northern port to the same Chinese ruling party.
I can tell you the same idiots that take Chinese money.
IMO it borders on treason.

I look forward to the day that we get a fair dinkum Govt in place that will over rule and take back these questionable infrastructure/land sales, will not pander to minority islam, will ban foreign donations, will make our laws and penalties appropriate for crimes committed, ie, victorian crime wave with no deterrents or penalties, will stop the wholesale gas exports and use our own energy potential to manufacture what the world and we need out where our resources are, ... Twiggy, .... start manufacturing railway lines for export or whatever else is needed around the world.

And a Govt that can over ride any companies ripping off Australians on the spot.
