Just looking through a list of players that have missed a premiership due to suspension (total of 29 players) on afl.com.au and there has been only 1 since 1989 (Jason McCartney 1999).
Two of the more interesting ones were suspensions of 99 weeks (you read that correctly) handed down to Doug Fraser and Alex Lang of Carlton in 1910 who were found guilty on charges of bribery!!
