GDY claims that temperature is everything and yet *all* of the other companies are looking for some sort of compromise between temperature, distance from grid, depth, and other geological factors. PTR for mine has already achieved a great balance but GRK a great spec and priced as such.
There is plenty more available space in the Cooper Basin around GDY to pursue a similar strategy if anyone wanted to, so why don't they? Too many unknowns at this point in time. New technology may make lower temperatures increasingly viable, transmission costs may outstrip other factors, who knows? If I were BHP I would rather sink $10 million or so into drilling on my doorstep than potentially billions on transmission infrastructure out to GDYs prospect.
