Tax loss selling at this time of year is simply selling at a low. Buy high, sell low... winning strategy!

I do know there are genuine reasons for it, but everyone goes into a frenzy to loose money just to partially offset tax.

For example, could you not do tax loss selling today on one stock, then rebuy that stock again at the exact same price later today or tomorrow therefore crystalising that loss then be ready to make money in a few weeks once it goes back up?
