They have to protect their investors and probably being so heavily invested across a number of spec stocks there was no way to cover their positions if everything was being sold across the board goods and bad. I accept that.

I think he is referring to the market conditions and these may well change and if they want to focus on stocks with revenue, income and results so be it. I don't think it will be traders that buy in if there are good results from drilling. It will Joe Public that will be buying, which is a good thing. 80% of American buy and manage their own share portfolios.
