Yeah, electricty is not some thing to mess with. That occasion I would not have normal done it myself but was a late Sunday afternoon so getting an electrician would have cost a small fortune and I was confident.
I do/did have a Marine Engine drivers ticket, as ships engineer you needed to maintain and fix every thing including electrics.
I have no problem changing a light switch, power point, light fitting. I take care that power is isolated and even then still extra take care. Funny enough I am colour blind which from what I understand would exclude me from being an electrician LOL
