WW, like a good bedtime story, I will pass on some stories I have heard about the Garden Gully area. This post is my own observations and may not be the same as Management.
Firstly present day. There is no doubt that THX have discovered gold structures at the Lydia prospect that no other exployer found or knew existed, so it opens the area up to new exploration strategies.
Old stories...
There are many stories floating around Meekatharra about the Garden Gully area, one I would like to pass on.
A lot of early work in the GG area was done by a well known local prospector/geologist named John Nelson Holloway. He has since passed away. He was well respected for his knowledge and experience and working at the time for Ross Atkinson at St Barbara Gold Mines.
The story goes that Holloway and two partners were involved in the Crown Prince lease area and had a royalty agreement over the lease. Holloway was involved when a drilling program was carried out of the lease, this was not when Julia Mines drilled the lease.
I have spoken to one of the original surviving syndicate members and he told me Holloway reported spectacular gold intersections. The gold interesections he told me were hard to believe so I will not repeat here in case of being accused of ramping. He said Holloway had a theory that the key gold structural geology of the GG area centred around the Crown Prince, Crown and Battery leases. Unfortunately in those days they only had the 55 ha Crown Prince lease, various other prospectors owned the adjoining leases.
So in my view, what's next on THX agenda.
As reported, they are now going to close drill the Lydia gold discovery to prove up a resource.
They have reported applications to the Mines Dept to drill the Crown Prince lease to confirm previous high grade intersections that cannot be reported owing to new guidelines.
The gold around these prospects are associated if arsenopyrite, and can be surfaced traced. It is well known that surface arsenopytite anomalys extend outside the Crown Prince lease so we can possibly assume THX with scout drill these anomalies, to try a link up the known deposits.
All in all, GG could be described as a new find area, owing to the work done by THX to prove that all previous explorers walked away not knowing the gold was at depth.
In the mean time expect Sandfire to announce commencement of a drilling program over Red Bore, they only have a short time frame to spend $1.5m.
The above is a story, take it on its merits.
