A subsea BOP is fitted with a Flex joint above, this allows the rig to move and not stress the riser connection above the BOP.
When you run tooling in the well particularly large OD tools, you jump the ROV to check the bullseyes on the flex joint and ensure the angle is less than 1 degree.
Same when you have issues releasing tools or are encountering high overpulls / hook loads.
You may need to move the rig to ensure the angle of the flex joint is as low as possible.
