One other option we had was to leave the dirt in the ground and borrow against it's potential value until it became worthless.
At least some shareholders would have gotten richer and been given a longer time to exit the stock.
If it goes to a vote then people can always vote it down, but if that happens don't expect a bigger offer from elsewhere. The big boys will let you become a shell and then pick you off.
However if someone else cimes in with an offer between now and any potential vote then things could get interesting.
My assumption is that shareholders are one of the third party approvals.
