Fair enough Night. Happy to substantiate that I’m talking facts and not just opinions.
The basis upon which I framed the previous post was from Gary and to the effect that the customer base generated from the efforts to date in South East Asia would pass through to Tata when they went live with their white label offering. I know it was since the Verizon Ann and I will first review the Q&A sessions for the specific reference.
If anyone can hasten my search through the relevant source(s), much appreciated.
For the moment, I am confident that, given time, I will find the material I’m describing, but accept on notice until I do.
Gold, regarding Aquto being competition, my argument is that while they are listed on a magic quadrant as competition, today they are not really (that is, no longer) a target of significant interest to SYT. That is because they seem to fit their lot, to be a “stand-alone” player, generating their own content offerings, negotiating individual wholesale data rates with the telcos they have aimed to connect with.
They claim to be “the leader in sponsored data”, but their (lack of) action belies that claim. No question SYT started out in the Aquto space and with a clear aim at them, but that was before the Verizon deep and strategic engagement. Today we are playing on a bigger, more sophisticated and much more rewarding ball park.
So I don't read this as Telefonica "preferring Aquto", rather they are accepting a proposal from Aquto which imo looks very different to anything presented to date by SYT. In the vernacular, this has become about comparing apples and oranges, that is, not really a productive exercise.
But understand this is what you see and are concerned about.
