Looked at quarterly again, Aviva is finalising "due diligence" on at least 1 of 4 coal opportunities in Australia and Africa.
AVA expect to add to current resource (now at "reserve" status) as recent seismic survey has revealed new drill targets.
AVA's great strength is that the fuel for its power station is at the door - no transport costs, stable supply, very competitive cost, only 4 k from Dampier-Bunbury gas pipeline, ground is covered by a mining lease, and is freehold. Targeted time of commission of power station is 2011, pending the approvals and financing process, and by then the upgraded transmission line is forecast by Western Power to be built.
AVA is looking at possibility of "co-development" of the power station, and is in talks with various parties.
Can expect more news-driven interest in AVA. Market likes recent developments - AVA is in a key position to power the Mid West mining expansion.
