The bigger issue with the UK is the MM's naked supply of shares. They effectively sell shares they don't have to a buyer, and then look to buy them back (cover) at a lower price.
'Allowed' by regulators in the oft trundled out need for liquidity.
Who knows what % of the 3B odd shares trading on AIM are offered naked to start with. I'd suggest a big number.
Not much we can do about it, except be aware that it happens.
