Western Mining once controlled just about all the nickel production in the Kambalda region and they couldn't make it work. Although admittidly the nickel price is much higher now. Huge amounts of money were wasted on trivial things. That, plus the fact they killed people at an alarming rate, led them to sell off all their resources in the Kambalda region. Smaller companies seem to be more cost effective when dealing with small deposits. One giant deposit would interest a large company such as BHP, Inco or Norilsk. I see MCR as a better takover option than SMY.
