Cottee does talk in riddles, metaphors quoting Shakespeare, Churchill etc. so I could be wrong, but I don't think I am.
Just remember funding comes at a cost and Macquarie have a higher LVR than traditional senior debt providers. If funded purely by external equity, the current dilution would be devastating to existing shareholders.

In Cottee's Skype interview, I'm sure he answered, to the question, ... "no Plan B", which left me scratching my head, as if a done deal with MB, arrogance, and that was going to be the outcome of the SoA.
