It will surprise me to a huge extent if Chinese investors haven't been all over this , and are part of the reason for the negotiations dragging out. The Chinese are renowned for their long term focus, and would be the perfect financial partners for 5 -10 yrs and beyond. They are desperate to be involved in Australian agricultural /forestry land and are heavily involved in other large scale crop ventures (water chestnuts and others) irrigating from the Ord River scheme up north. I suspect they would be outbidding most of the other players here, but may not fit the program in terms of the major players wanting control.
We will see very soon.
