Talisman becomes a more secure site
New Talisman Gold Mines was busy reporting in July on a series of resource upgrades at the historic Talisman mine and its just-released quarter report gives more detail about mine site upgrades and communication and security issues.
The historic Talisman gold mine at Karangahake in the Hauraki goldfield is no longer a site for fossickers as New Talisman Gold Mines Ltd (NZX & ASX: NTL) establishes staff facilities and a security system.
The company’s quarter report released this week covers all the progress covered by recent update reports on elevating resources and reserves at the historic site, establishing a more secure portal and workings leading to targets including untapped zones of the mine.
The quarterly report gives more detail on making the site secure from incursions and there are now two more site offices being installed to allow for an equipment and change room and a site planning office.
NTL said security measures will see 16 cameras which operate 24/7 being deployed and installed.
“This will allow safety and security of the company equipment and will be uploading all recordings to the cloud. The technology allows a clear field of view at night from each camera which remotely follows movement.
“With the increased technology coupled with specialist security staff the company can assure the safety of contractor equipment and its staff.”
The report said communications were installed which allow direct contact to miners underground as they progress, as well as full wireless linking the head office through to the mine site.
Managing director Matt Hill said the June quarter has been one of the busier quarters, with the start of the mine prospecting programme well underway and work commencing underground.
“The site is now restored back to the permanent mine site it has been for majority of the past 100 years,” Hill said.
He said the Talisman site now once again has power, water and compressed air installed with a permanent site office and full underground communications and Wifi connected. The team has passed the 300 metres mark underground.
Hill said the Talisman Deeps project has delivered the expected results with the first of the modules being Dubbo deeps and Woodstock released delivering a resource of 353,000 ounces gold equivalent - an upgrade of over 73% above the entire New Talisman JORC 2004 resource “and a substantial grade increase at both resources.”
This, he said, provides for a significant opportunity to expand operations at the Talisman mine.
The resource consent which allows for 100,000 tonnes of ore per annum was expected to be triggered in December for a period of 24 months.
