Yes many have been predicting a fall in real estate prices for some time now and it has not yet happened, just there were those predicting a fall in tech stocks for 6 - 12 months was immanent before it happened
History has shown that all bubbles have burst the bigger the bubble the bigger the burst therefore wishing for further price rises could be very dangerous.
And yes people need some where to live but they also need to be able to afford to buy a house (I would disagree with the Real estats institutes afoordability statement) and already rental vacancies are rising
