"The federal Environment and Energy Department has decided against requiring salmon farmer Tassal Group to conduct a full environmental assessment of its plan to farm 800,000 salmon in the bay, near Maria Island.
However, it has imposed conditions aimed at protecting southern right whales, including limiting vessel use to daylight hours and requiring a whale-spotter to be on-board during boat operations.
