Maybe you should educate yourself on the colonial history of the area and the effect that modern "western" economies are having on the "bunch of savages" even today. Even better would be to visit. I assure you from experience you would not come away with that attitude.
Middle/upper class white people, hoping to make a few dollars from the countries resources, who turn a blind eye to the corruption and carnage inflicted for decades are the real savages.
