Imo that last announcement by RVR regarding Feral and the magnetite was not a great announcement (yes, having a magnetite deposit as big as GBG's is exciting), but it has the market concentrating on the magnetite potential rather than the DSO haematite potential which is the big money spinner.
People interested in this stock should reread the ann. on the 16/3 which states:
"FORTHCOMING SURVEYS TO ASSESS HEMATITE AND MAGNETITE IRON ORE POTENTIAL, MID WEST REGION, WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
Red River Resources Limited wishes to announce that it will be carrying out the following surveys to assess hematite and magnetite potential at its Feral iron ore prospect, Mid West Region, Western Australia, during the March-April period of 2007:
* helicopter borne aeromagnetic survey of E70/227. * further surface rock chip sampling. * detailed geological mapping. * metallurgical sampling.
The aim of these surveys is to prepare for a drilling program that will test particularly for direct shipping grade hematite ore (DSO). A secondary aim will be to assess magnetite potential.
The location of the area is shown in Figure 1. As disclosed in a previous ASX release, Red River Resources has been successful in delineating pods carrying grades of up to 64% Fe by undertaking surface rock chip sampling over portion of the banded iron formations (BIF's) occurring within the prospect area (see Figure 2). The pods are inferred to have similar geology to that occurring at the old Koolanooka iron ore mine, 20 kilometres to the north west.
The forthcoming surveys will provide valuable insights into the structural setting of the higher grade hematite pods and will probably encounter further drill targets along strike to the south east of the area that has been sampled already. The aeromagnetic survey will also enable modelling of the magnetite resource below the weathered zone. Based on the field strength of older vintage aeromagnetic data, this is inferred to be very substantial."
DSO is the main game here.
