I am seeing differing news reports.
But as far as I can make out they will reintroduce the non-binding plebiscite bill costing tens of millions of dollars.
Then if that fails to pass the Senate they will hold a non-binding postal ballot costing tens of millions of dollars.
Then if either the plebiscite or the postal ballot show support for SSM they will allow a free vote in parliament.
What I can not fathom is why not just hold the free vote in parliament now and get this matter out of the way, because both the plebiscite and postal ballot are non-binding on MP's and only serve to drag the process out. Whatever happens MP's will have the final say.
