I should also add that some of the off take agreements are also linked to share ownerships in the companies developing the deposits. In a normally functioning commodity market where a commodity has a spot price there is no need for a consumer of a commodity to own or link sale prices to future demand. Debt or equity should be able to be raised based on off take agreements leaving shareholders of the commodity developer 100% owners of their resources and income streams.
The deals we are seeing in Li are reminiscent of iron ore pricing in the early days. I won't need to remind people of how flat the price of iron ore was for decades once supply and demand came into balance.
Li is not special. It is just another commodity. The charging capacity of all the production from all the current and planned battery "Gigafactories" is actually miniscle in terms of the planet's every day energy usage. Esh
