Diesel- for burning- costs about 80c a litre, x its density of 840kg/M3 or 95cents per kilo, $950 per tonne
Coal (apart from being Australian) would cost one sixth of that, at most.
Diesel is more polluting than coal per unit (have to take into account the pollution in its production and distillation- ever been to Jurong island in Singapore?)
So stupid, stupid. Just pay the 1 billion for a 1000MW coal plant and secure the future for 50 years, like japan, Germany, China, India, ----
