Here's a double edged sword for you.
As the USD declines, Gold rises - which is good for Lihir.
BUT the USD is at a critical level, whereby equities are now at risk secondary to the Yen carry trade.
As people unwind the carry trade and as equities drop, people will use Gold as a method of quick liquidity and Gold will drop.
In the near term - I don't see any benefit of owning gold stocks as both scenarios will propel gold down, and will take lihir with it.
I wish it were a different way...I am a fan of Lihir, but would not buy currently.
