    • Yes, the period for any objections for the 8 tenements (other than EL-31496) expired in May.
      So GPP will be granted with these tenements soon.

      You said "But, and this is really puzzling, here's the application for EL-31496.."

      I know things are being puzzling when you miss a few announcements. See the anns. on Apr. 4 2017 below. Because it's a new application.

      "3. NORTHERN TERRITORY – BRINE PROJECT
      During the quarter under review, the Company has applied for a further Exploration Licence 31496 which supports the 8 Exploration Licenses (EL-31459 through to EL-31466) in the Northern Territory.

      GPP announced on 3 March 2017 that initial reconnaissance surface sampling indicated potassium clay and Potash potential. GPP has been working through it options to extend the program while the company awaits issue of the above Licences."

      Currently, Greenpower is waiting for the grant of its Northern Territory tenements. Until granted, there is a very limited amount of in-field exploration that can be carried out. The company is permitted to carry out exploration that does not involve the use of powered equipment (such as drill rigs, excavators, bulldozers, etc.).

      This is why Balmoral Lagoon (Balmain Swamp) is the current exploration focus - all work so far has been done by hand auger and pick and shovel. Further exploration at Balmoral Lagoon will continue in this manner until grant of the tenements.

      Now that the wet season has ended it is envisaged that further sampling will commence in August and include GPP seeking to test the brines for Lithium potential."

      According to my research we have we have two targets as far as I understand;

      1)Balmoral lagoon (Balmain Swamp) in the Cambrian Limestone Aquifer (CLA). The exploration of this resource will be very quick and easy as it is a shallow one (0-200m). Target would be Potassium rich clays.

      2)Hypersaline formations in the Proterozoic formations (Hayfield Mudstone I guess). There are many petroleum (2 recent by Origin JV) wells drilled and intersected this formation. Therefore the data should be available.

      The cross-section of Beetaloo Basin as below; See the Hayfield mudstone formation (ave.thickness 450m) . It is charged with hypersaline aquifers (proterozoic formation water) which contains high level of potassium and maybe lithium brines.

      See the proterozoic formation water mineral content at the bottom of the table.

      @anatol , Thanks for that post mate , do you reckon you could repost under the NT/SOP thread so that I can find this again when I want to reference it!

      Its ok to be happy all the time !

      Hi @apkjm
      The post above just a rough summary of my research for NT Proteria (SOP) project. I will post a better and extended one on the NT/SOP thread later on.

      There are a lot of material information on GPP's announcements about all these issues. But I know it's hard to understand without some technical knowledge. Thanks to suspension that I have had a lot of time to make this research.

      NT Proteria project is the exact name even though it was called Hypersaline Brine project before. Because the project is not only about hypersaline brines of deep (400-1000m) formations, it is also about the potassium rich clays in the claypan of Balmoral Lagoon (Balmain Swamp) which could be extracted by surface mining. Balmoral Lagoon (Balmain Swamp) is the focus of the project at the moment as it was stated on the announcements.

      The initial results were very good. The company was already saying on their anns on March 3 2017 that that they were preparing to further investigate the Potassium
      extraction method given the results received to date.

      Anns on March 3 2017;
      "Further analytical work will now commence on the remaining 10 soil samples once lab
      results are received. The Company is preparing to further investigate the Potassium extraction method given the results received to date."

      "What is particularly encouraging is that soil samples suggest the potassium yield within the claypan is on par with some of the leading SOP projects currently under development globally. What could aid Greenpower further is the fact the project lies so close to existing road and rail infrastructure versus peer projects."

      "This area has a distinctively high Potassium radiometric signature which coincides with an
      internally draining claypan."
