For me, this is the deal breaker for any of the “Jonnie-come-lately” in the nanosat communication race.

“The Company and the UK regulator OFCOM has started the regulatory process to confirm the Bringing Into Use (BIU) of Sky and Space Global’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU) filings by the 3 Diamonds nano-satellites launched on 23/06/2017, in accordance with the ITU minimum period of 90 days. Following the BIU, the frequencies will be fully licensed to SAS.”

Once SAS has secured the OFCOM licensed frequencies required for their communications system, it provides another massive block to anyone wanting to stomp on our ground. The license will give us exclusivity within that frequency. This license is very hard to obtain. It takes rigorous tests and multiple confirmations under various parameters.

My understanding is that it also costs a shit load of money for the license, a fee I am sure they will attempt to negotiate around to secure a better deal! Not sure, but I believe this and other licenses revolve around a single communications satellite. No-one has yet created a satellite ‘communications’ business based on multiple ‘nanosats’ in constellation format. If that is the case, OFCOM will need to make some changes to better suit the Industry changes.

“Sky and Space Global's constellation is planned to use spectrum in the S band and L band for mobile communication coverage, S band for inter-satellite links and again S band and UHF for mission control.”
On 27 September 2016 the company announced that it has received approval from the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence to use its UHF frequencies for command and telemetry of the three demonstration satellites until the end of 2019 with the possibility to extend this timeframe."

I am not sure what actual frequencies are being licensed, suffice to say SAS are well on top of things and progressing 100% to plan.

This is a simply unique ASX listed company, the future impact of which still amazes me.
