I think your right about the BTA's. I think the conditions for signing an investment grade BTA do not exist and it is years before that can change.
Statement: There will be a shortage of LNG in years to come unless more plants are built and buyers are beginning to see that.
Likely Reality: Tons of cheap gas available with no long term commitment. Somebody else can do the heavy lifting for the future.
Statement: Need to reduce dependence on Russian gas.
Likely Reality: Need to bang on about going elsewhere to screw the best possible deal out of the Russians.
In my opinion, most businesses take a short term view. Of course when the excess gas is mopped up it will be too late to get plants built, so there will the be a long term shortage after the long term glut. Sigh - human nature.
