I heard very similar advice from someone who pops up on the Top 20 registers of all sorts of shells and micro plays. The play being get set early, buy plenty, wait for a liquidity event then take your initial capital out, let the rest ride. Options are a bonus. Being careful to get set after a raise and consol with the less shares the better.

Now looking back myself doing almost everything that those wiser suggested and realising it would have been so much simpler just listening to begin with. Instead, ploughing on .. determined to make the mistakes myself and learn it the hard way
Surrounding oneself with like-minded and smarter, more experienced people the best way to get ahead imo. The STT thread and those on it a perfect place to begin.
Well done on the heart.
