I think the discussion on this board is getting way ahead of itself drilling mud is used for just that it controlls pressure in the formation amongst other things until the point that the well is cased and cemented it is only used in a producing well if it needs to be killed.
This could possibly suggest further interventions. But as I have already stated and it fell on deaf ears the well is only due to be opened this week and in Alaska thats not started yet.
