Under such a scenario, those exchange listed companies would be no different to private, unlisted companies.
You would only be interested in the company's operating performance and your share of the profits.
You simply wouldnt know what the price of your shareholding was every second of the day.
Is this a far-fetched situation ? Not at all.
Imagine someone who partcipated in the WOW IPO in 1993.
He wrote a cheque ($2.40 per share) to the previous owner and has since only received dividends from the company. Under such a scenario, the stockmarket might as well not exist. This investor has had zero contact with the stockmarket.
