Not quite. You're right "the shares don't magically appear in the holder's accounts straight after the announcement" however it depends on how quickly your broker updates your account. Some brokers are faster than others so some would have had the shares on their account this morning, some will get them around lunchtime and from memory, some only updated accounts early afternoon.
