I was speaking to a guy from the ATO on the weekend and he said there is likely to be some amendments to the current tax laws dealing with property ( my interpretation was after the next election) .
Negative gearing is the obvious one . Both parties are seeking ways to keep housing in reach of first home buyers . The investor is going to get less tax deduction in his opinon, either by quarantine of deduction or total removal of some or all deductions .
State land tax has the potential for large rise also and thus reduce the attractiveness to the investor market .
Possiblity that Land Tax will be taken over by Federal government departments .
