Dudes....The geology of sa textbook refers to 20gt of lignite A/subbituminous C rank coal in the six or so deposits in the perdika basin...thus for a 20m outfit like sxp the coal is worth 1/10 of a cent a tonne! lake phillipson in particular was closely examined in bannons time by etsa and sadme as a possible replacement for leigh ck. coal. As i understand it, it was not too deep for open cut, and right near the rail....but capex frightened the govt, as did the greenies...so incremental gas plants, and interconnections to the east, have provided sa with new supplies at the margin since....in the current atmosphere of climate change hysteria etc these deposits may indeed be " stranded"......i would be looking at the LNC startup at chinchilla...if it goes ok, sxp should be a real goer....
