I don't measure ketones in my blood or urine, so I may not always be technically in ketosis (above the threshold of 0.5 mM). I don't bother doing this because some of the medium chain fatty acids from the fats I eat are quickly converted into ketones (and the strips are expensive). Alot of the sugar in the vegetables is not immediately available, nor is the fibre. It takes time and energy to cleave polysacharides... Also, much of that is fermented by gut bacteria and liberated as butyrate. Lastly, some of the protein your sister is eating is probably being converted into sugar by gluconeogenesis, as is the case for me.

Anton Chigurh - So far I feel pretty good. I keep a jar of coconut oil in my desk and some butter in the fridge. I got strange questions about the butter in coffee at first...Otherwise, I bring vegetables/salad with olive oil for lunch. Why did you stop the diet?

952i - I found it difficult too at first. I read it was easiest to eat one or two avocados a day, which I did. I also drank extra water and consumed more sea salt/himalayan salt.
