my father was born during the depression era in far northern queensland and as a teenager, saw many neighbours, family and friends held in detention during the war years. and yes, has also seen what the stock market is capable of doing to people's perceived notion of wealth. not surprisingly, he has a healthy disrespect for authority but ironically, a keen interest in politics.
i have looked at the 1957 chart....and i think i may have had voltaire post it a while ago on my behalf.
however, i am also not discounting the possibility that we may mirror 1947/48 were we may bottom out by the end of august/early september and make new highs by the end of year - only to lose all gains by early next year (to coincide with armstrong's low).
given the u.s. fed's recent decision, the later option seems plausible.
