I've supported analysts in banks and I can say that they are usually very highly educated autists. They don't like computers and rarely step outside their booths and there's labels all over the place warning you to be quiet when around them. Their incentive is to not be wrong. So their predictions are generally conservative and late.

Oh, and they usually have economics degrees. How many economists were involved in the invention of Bitcoin? None. That's because (like your GP) they operate out of textbooks that are 50 years old.
